Luca visited Hervé Damoiseau
When Luca visited Hervé Damoiseau (CEO of Damoiseau rums), he was presented with a sample of Damoiseau rum from 1980. The INAO (National Institute of Origin and Quality) had just rejected its “agricole” classification due to the presence of a percentage of molasses distillation.
Luca tasted it and was enchanted by the blend of pure cane juice distillate and molasses. To preserve this balance, he decided to bottle it as is, without dilution.
Damoiseau 1980
Hervé agreed, and thus, Velier’s bottling of Damoiseau 1980 was born. Later, Luca discovered that Hervé had also bottled this 1980 vintage at the same degree.
